OPEN Leadership Talks

open leadership_dark2As a RuleBreaker and ChangeMaker, I challenge the status quo (in simple terms, that means looking for simplicity and better ways of doing what we do). The status quo is the system that we all grew up in, and the system is failing and almost broken. The real question is how do we repair it, fix it or even just maintain it? Life is about Leadership, and my journey is to find new ways of unlocking the thinking around the way we communicate so that we can all be better leaders. OPEN Leadership addresses and challenges our thinking in a way that I believe has never been done before. Einstein said ‘we cannot solve problems with the same thinking that we created the problem with’ – this lead me to research and discover that we need an entirely different way of looking at our thinking and not the problem.

We live in an academic world and if we try to use logic to solve problems, we would normally use books as a source instead of our brains. Let me give you an example: most people, when asked what the opposite of a ‘leader’ is, will say ‘follower’ – this is correct according to the dictionary and the thesaurus. When we use our brains to THINK about it we will come up with a different set of ideas. The answers our brains give us are perhaps an inactive or lazy person, a procrastinator – our brains know that leadership is just about ACTION, not textbook theory and hence the saying ‘your actions speak so loud I cannot hear what you are saying’.

Changing the way we see things helps us solve problems – using theory and the academics we have learnt will unfortunately just keep us in the status quo. My talk looks at various human behaviours and helps people to unlock their thinking brain. As I say we all think, but do we think about what we think about when we think?

The formats range from a 15min TedTalk, a 45min Keynote or a 2-day Workshop. For more information please email Elke Brink at or myself at

Never more so than now. Its time we seriously consider Systems Thinking supported by the current Scientific Method. Systems thinking will move us past the reductionist mind set that we have. Leaders need to be teachers, mentors and guides.
