Do or do not. There is no try! These now famous words from Yoda are so profound and it’s an essence of leadership that we cannot escape. We either do it and succeed, or we simply keep trying. Should we fail, it’s about how quickly we can get up again and do it again until we succeed. History is full of stories of people who kept on doing things until they succeeded.
If you keep on doing the right things, you will eventually succeed – the success that consistency brings is 100% predictable. If we think we are doing the wrong thing, or if we consider that we may not be doing exactly the actions that will bring us success, then we should get some help and perhaps get a coach. Coaches are great, they can tell you exactly what you need to do to be successful, but there is one thing a coach can never do for you – they can never DO it for YOU!
When we are truly successful our success is able to be replicated by others, they can follow our example and become successful themselves. In short they will follow what we are doing; if we are only talking about what we going to do, they have nothing to follow. Don’t wait until you can do it perfectly, simply get out there and do it. Give people something to follow, allow them to observe what you’re doing and they will begin to replicate your success.
Never try, as the word ‘try’ suggests an element of failure already. It’s only when we give up or quit that we ultimately fail. If you never quit, you can never fail, you are simply still doing what you set out to do.

I love this – “Don’t wait until you can do it perfectly, simply get out there and do it.”
