Social Business (Part Seven) – Advertising on Social Media

What we notice about life itself is that the days of hard selling are definitely over and we are fact becoming a relational business world. Or in terms of this series of articles, our businesses are becoming more social.

If hard selling is not working, then there is a good chance traditional advertising is not working either. In fact that is exactly what we observe, if you want to get something sold, then someone needs to recommend it via a mention or even a personal story around the product.

The most effective are product mentions, articles about people using products in real life or stories about how the product or service is helping people live better lives.

Advertising like many of the activities we have are now more participative, more collaboarative. Product purchasing decisions are guided by the way we are influenced and the more seamless and authentic that process is, the more effective the advertising will be.

Are there challenges ahead? Oh yes more than you can imagine, but together we can find ways of being effective and we may need to unlearn a few of the bad habits of the past to be successful.
