It’s not about YOU and the number of followers!

Screen Shot 2015-09-05 at 10.35.48 AMYou may be many things, but please understand you are never a celebrity – I don’t care who you think you are, who others say you are, or what you have done, if you think you are a celebrity YOU have stinking thinking! Besides, if you have to tell others you are a celebrity you are most likely not one. Let’s be honest – in the new connected world if you act like a celebrity online, you are losing your effectiveness and influence fast (very fast)!

If you think that the number of followers you have makes you influential, you are so mistaken. Yes, it is not about YOU, your status, or what you think you accomplished in the past …

It is about your FOLLOWERS

Life is all about relationships and leadership is exactly that. Whatever we do needs to be focused on how we can best serve our followers: Do they want to be entertained? How can we be relevant to their needs? How can we build better connections with people and connect them to their needs, rather than using them to get to where we need to go.

The defining question is … What are you doing to connect more effectively, utilising your time to find interesting people, who you can introduce to other interesting people? People don’t want what you have, they want you to connect them to what they need. Too often we seem to think that people only want what we have to give, however they actually want to connect with the people you know. Welcome to the world of the CONNECTOR.
