Book Review : Together is Better by Simon Sinek

imagesThis is more than a little book of inspiration, this book is an insight into how we understand people, what motivates and ultimately moves them. Allow Simon Sinek to change your perceptions of what leadership is … As he says in the book ‘some people still think they are leaders simply because they got a promotion’.

The book brilliantly combines Simon Sinek’s best quotes into a story about everyday people, faced with the challenges of life. Fortunately we are social animals and as a team we accomplish so much more, yes – together is better than one!

Here are some of my favourite quotes which can be found in the book:

Leadership is not about being in charge. Leadership is about taking care of those in your charge.

Under poor leaders we feel like we work for the company. With good leaders we feel like we work for each other.

Leaders give us a chance to try and fail, then give us a chance to try and succeed.

The book is a short and powerful read filled with thought provoking quotes. Simon’s quotes are filled with nuances, so to further help the reader he has also included a chapter in the book which gives more detail into his thoughts about the quotes.

There is even a song that goes with the book by Aloe Blacc visit the page at

The last and final quote of the book (found on the back cover) sums up Simon’s thinking …

‘Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress. Working hard for something we love is called passion.’

‘Together is Better – A Little Book of Inspiration’ is published by Portfolio Penguin and is already a bestseller. I encourage you to get your copy and share the ideas with as many people as possible.
